Un-Bleach is a versatile, powerful, and safe alternative to traditional bleach, suitable for a wide range of cleaning tasks. Whether you’re tackling laundry, household surfaces, or even outdoor items, these Un-Bleach recipes provide an effective, eco-friendly way to clean, deodorize, and brighten.
Laundry Uses
Pre-Soak for Stains and Deodorizing: Mix 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of Un-Bleach with hot water (100 to 150°F) in a tub or bucket. Soak items for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight, then wash as usual. For added cleaning power, add more Un-Bleach in the regular wash cycle:
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) for lightly soiled loads
4 ounces (½ cup) for medium soiled loads
8 ounces (1 cup) for heavily soiled loads
Note: Do not use on wool or silk.
Hard-Surface Cleaning Recipes
General Cleaning: Mix 4 ounces of Un-Bleach in 1 gallon of warm or hot water (1 ounce per quart).
Heavy Cleaning: Mix 8 ounces of Un-Bleach in 1 gallon of warm or hot water (2 ounces per quart).
Soaks: Mix 2 to 8 ounces of Un-Bleach in 1 gallon of hot water.
Paste: Combine 1 to 2 ounces of Un-Bleach with just enough water to make a paste.
Note: Un-Bleach solutions remain effective for 5 to 6 hours. Discard any unused solution afterward by pouring it down the drain, where it will help clean and deodorize.
Specific Applications
Carpet, Couches, Upholstery, Car Seats: Use the General Cleaning Recipe to de-stain and deodorize. Spray on the area, work in with a brush, let stand 5-10 minutes, rinse thoroughly with fresh water, blot with a clean cloth, and vacuum when dry. Always test for colorfastness first.
Curtains and Sheers: Soak in the Heavy Cleaning Recipe for 30-60 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and let dry.
Tile & Grout: Apply the General Cleaning Recipe, let it sit for 60 minutes, then scrub and rinse.
Kitchen Cleaning: Use Un-Bleach to clean stained dishes, cutting boards, drains, refrigerators, and more by following the appropriate dilution and soaking times.
Bathroom: Clean toilets, tubs, and showers with the Paste Recipe or sprinkle Un-Bleach directly onto stains, allowing time to work before rinsing.
Household: Clean mops, remove mildew, deodorize litter boxes, and more with the corresponding recipes.
Outdoor Cleaning: Use Un-Bleach to clean fencing, concrete, siding, decks, and yard items like garbage cans and lawn furniture.
Camping, Sailing, Adventuring: Clean and deodorize coolers, boat equipment, camping gear, and more with Un-Bleach solutions.
Water Damage Cleanup & Mildew Removal: Use Un-Bleach to tackle mold, mildew, and water damage before painting or for general cleanup.
Wedding Dresses & Tennis Shoes: Soak in a Light Cleaning Recipe (1 to 2 ounces per gallon of warm water) for 10-20 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
